Advanced Band (7th/8th Grade)

The advanced band is an auditioned group based on playing ability, behavior, and work ethic. This group, made up of seventh and eighth graders, is a continuation of the skills learned in beginner and intermediate band, and the development of musicianship. The advanced band is offered more performances and are expected to practice and pass off any expected tests. The students of the advanced band will work towards passing off Third Class Musicianship skills to become performers in the Pearl High School Band.

Intermediate Band (7th/8th Grade)

The intermediate band is a continuation of skills learned in beginner band and the development of further musicianship. The band, made up of seventh and eighth graders, intends to help students become more confident musicians and prepare them to move up into the advanced band.

Beginner Band (6th Grade)

Sixth-grade band begins in the first days of school with an introduction to music theory, including the staff, note names

in treble and bass clef, rhythms, and an introduction to the instruments in the band. At the end of the 5th Grade year,
